New England Forms with Modern Detailing
Designed for a family moving away from urban living, this 4,000 square foot home embraces New Hampshire's coastal lifestyle - supporting water sports, biking, skiing and year-round surfing. The house sits outside the 50 year flood zone, and is designed to high-performance energy standards to respond to hot summers and cold winters.
The main living spaces open to the landscape with south-facing views of the salt marsh. To protect surrounding wetlands, integrated garden beds are built into retaining stone walls, reflecting the owners' love of gardening. Two gabled wings provide clear zoning, separating the primary suite and home office from shared living spaces and secondary bedrooms. A garage and barn define a welcoming courtyard. Modern detailing throughout provides a refined backdrop for the displayed art. In collaboration with Betsy Bassett Interiors and Tucker Construction, every detail was carefully considered - from zero-trim interior doors to a floating entry stair.
