Blending traditional New England architectural forms with modern detailing, this 5,000+ square foot residence was completed in 2022 and is sited on a south-facing hillside with sweeping views of the Presidentia Range and Cannon Mountain.
Located in a cold-climate region classified within the Mixed-Humid Building America Climate Zone, the project required careful attention to high-performance envelope design. All thermal break detailing was thoughtfully developed and implemented in close collaboration with master builder, Simon Foster.
The main house and detached garage define a welcoming entrance courtyard, while south-facing views are fully embraced within all primary living spaces.
A 25 kW solar photovoltaic system with battery storage supports on-site energy generation, including overnight charging of electric vehicles. A biomass heating system was selected to provide resilient heating and enable the battery system to power the home during extended power outages.
