A RESILIENT NET ZERO RETREAT
Set on a quiet lake, Goose Pond House is a resilient Net Zero retreat shaped by nature, recreation and self-sufficiency. The surrounding trail network and lakefront setting inspired a design that strengthens daily connections to the landscape. Our clients envisioned a retreat that would foster connection to the landscape while providing a long-term resilience and self-sufficiency. Carefully integrated into a steep and wooded site, the home appears as a modest one-story structure from the approach then opens dramatically to two-stories on the lake. Distinct volumes create privacy for family and guests, while a modestly scaled central living space maintains a warm and intimate center for daily life.
In response to the focus of our clients on preparedness, the design includes a Faraday-cage-protected garage and secure interior storage for critical electronics. Additional amenities (an Endless Pool, ski-tuning workshop, bike repair space) support the active lifestyle of the owners, resulting in a home that is resilient, sustainable and deeply connected to its setting.
